OUR STORY
A GIFT
It all started with a gift - a baby shower gift. Expecting our first child, I was given a beautiful baby quilt. I very carefully folded it and tucked it safely in a drawer to ensure that it wouldn't be damaged. Fast forward 18 months and I am cleaning out drawers in anticipation of our second baby... and I re-discovered the quilt. And I realized that it shouldn't be hidden in a drawer. So I pulled it out and wrapped it around my newborn daughter. As she grew, she became attached to that quilt - she adored the soft backing material, and would rub the quilt between her fingers. When she began to talk, she named it her "soft bubbie"; that quilt could calm any fear, remove any worry, and halt the flow of tears.
QUILTING JOURNEY
After finally realizing just how precious that gift was, I took my first quilting class, and began making baby quilts as gifts for baby showers. As the wife of a young active duty Marine, there were many showers to attend! When my daughter grew out of her crib, I cut up the crib sheets that I wasn't ready to part with, and made beautiful twin size bed quilts. I discovered many amazing quilt shops as we moved across the country, collecting fabric along the way. I was also collecting t-shirts, as I was already planning to make t-shirt quilts for my kids for their high school graduation.

T-SHIRT QUILTS
Eighteen years after I received that first gift, I started making another - a t-shirt quilt for my son who was graduating from high school. My daughter and younger son watched the whole process - my daughter asking to be allowed to pick the shirts that made up her quilt, and my son begging me not to cut up his shirts that he was still wearing. Eventually, the bins of shirts were made into two quilts, one queen sized quilt to keep on his bed at home, and a lap sized quilt for him to take off to college. I had so much fun making them, that I decided to start making them for others. Remembering that first gift - "My Soft Bubbie" was begun!
